Channels overview
A channel is somewhere you publish: a social network, or a blog. Connecting one is always the same shape: open Settings, then Connected Accounts, press Connect Account, and approve the permission screen that the channel itself shows you. Publiz never asks for your passwords.
What you can connect today
Section titled “What you can connect today”| Platform | Publish | Comments | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube | video | full | every post needs a video, titles cap at 100 characters |
| text, links, images, video | read, reply, delete | personal profiles only, up to 20 images or one video per post | |
| TikTok | video, photo | none | comments are not available to apps at our access level |
| image, video | none | posts become pins on a board you pick per post | |
| Bluesky | text, image, video | read, reply, delete | uses an app password rather than an OAuth screen |
| Discord | text, image, video | read, reply, delete | posts to a server channel, comments need the optional bot |
| DEV | articles | none | Markdown articles with a title, connects with an API key, 4 tags max |
| Mastodon | text, image, video | read, reply, delete | you pick your own server, and it sets the character limit |
| WordPress | articles | none | your own WordPress site, connected with an application password, no view counts |
| X | text, image, video, polls | none | 280 characters, and the only channel that spends credits per post |
“Full” comments means read, reply, hide, and delete. Only YouTube can hide a comment. Comments land in the Inbox, see comments for the details.
Still on the way
Section titled “Still on the way”Instagram, Facebook, and Threads are built and working, but Meta’s review of the Publiz app is still in progress, so they cannot be connected yet. They will appear in the same Connect Account dialog once that clears, with nothing for you to do beyond connecting them.
One account, one workspace
Section titled “One account, one workspace”Every workspace starts with all of these channels available. There is nothing to install or enable: make a workspace and the full list above is ready to connect.
The rule is one account per channel in a workspace, and a given account can only be connected in one workspace at a time across the whole of Publiz. Try to connect an account another workspace already holds and you get told so, rather than ending up with one account posting from two places.
That is what makes workspaces the answer when you have more than one account on the same platform. Two TikTok accounts means two workspaces, and the second workspace is not a stripped-down one: every other channel in it is still free, so it can hold its own YouTube, LinkedIn, and the rest. How many workspaces you get depends on your plan.
It is also what keeps a client’s accounts out of reach of anyone who only has access to a different workspace. See workspaces and members for how that access is handed out.
Moving an account between workspaces
Section titled “Moving an account between workspaces”Disconnect it in the old workspace first, then connect it in the new one. The old workspace keeps its record of the account, so if you move it back later it reclaims the same row rather than starting over.
Reconnecting an account in the workspace that already holds it is not a move at all, it just refreshes the access that platform gave us. That is the normal fix when a connection expires.
Disconnecting and deleting a channel
Section titled “Disconnecting and deleting a channel”Both live on the Connected Accounts page, and they do different things.
Disconnect stops Publiz from posting to the account and removes what we set up on the platform, like the webhook on a Discord channel or our access to your Bluesky session. Everything Publiz has stored for the account stays: its posts, comments and analytics. Reconnect it later and it picks up where it left off.
A few platforms don’t let apps remove themselves. When that happens, Publiz tells you right after disconnecting, so you can take Publiz out of that platform’s own settings if you want access fully gone.
Delete is only offered once an account is disconnected, and it can’t be undone. You type the
account’s name to confirm (on Mastodon it’s the @user@server handle). Then Publiz removes the
account along with its comments, publish history and analytics. If it was the workspace’s last
account on that platform, the platform also comes off your posts, and posts that went only there are
deleted.
A few things a delete doesn’t touch:
- Posts already published on the platform stay there. Publiz doesn’t delete them. If you want one gone, delete it from Publiz while the account is still connected, or delete it on the platform itself.
- Signatures. They belong to the workspace, not the account, so they stay on the Signatures page, ready for your other accounts.
- Your monthly usage. Posts you’ve already scheduled or published this month keep counting toward your plan. Scheduled posts that get removed do free up their spots in the queue.
The delete runs in the background, so you can leave the page. You’ll get a notification when it’s done. If something goes wrong partway, the account shows Delete stuck with a retry button, and a retry carries on from where it stopped. You can’t reconnect the same account while its delete is still running.
